Clicker 5 is a powerful yet easy-to-use writing support and multimedia tool that enables children to write with whole words, phrases, pictures or animations.
Clicker 5 can support reading and writing in all curriculum areas for pupils of all ages and abilities. Students can hear words spoken by realistic Australian software speech both before they write and as they write. Already used on over half a million school computers – this is a great program.
The program can be used in a variety of ways:
1. Sentence building
Words can be organised from left to right and in colour-coded groups to help pupils build simple sentences. The words can also be grouped so that they appear in a set order.
2. Word banks
Pupils can type into Clicker Writer and use the grids just for the more difficult words. Clicker 5 enables pupils to have their own personalised word bank and on-screen keyboards.
3. Talking books
Pupils of all abilities can create their own talking books, using the pop-up grids to enter text and choose pictures. Clicker 5 makes it easy to add digital photos, sounds and videos in a range of file formats.
4. Labelling
Using the pop-up grids, labelling activities can be made to support any area of the curriculum.
5. Writing frames
Any grid you make in Clicker 5 can link to any number of other grids. In this example, a writing frame links to a word bank and a connectives grid, providing appropriate scaffolding to write a discussion text.
6. Multimedia Presentations
Pupils can create multimedia presentations using optional pop-ups to support them. They can also include digital photos, sounds and videos in a range of file formats.
